How the time flies...

We have 2 days left of the CRCT, and are quickly approaching the end of the year! I am sad that we have not used this blog more, but would love to posts several blogs in the next few weeks!

With the year coming to a close soon, here is a post where you can write the top five things you've learned in 4th grade! Your list does not have to be currciulum-based things you have learned from me (like the American Revolution)! It can include things that you have learned from other students, that you have learned from other teachers, and even things you've learned about yourself! Remember to narrow down your list to only 5! Happy posting (and testing)! :)

Goals

It is important for all of us to set personal goals for ourselves. What is a learning goal you have for yourself this week. How do you plan to reach that goal? What is a goal you have for something outside of school, such as a sport or other extra curricular activity? What can I do to help you attain it?

Flood of 2009

Hello to all of my wonderful students! I hope you are all safe and sound with your families! I have been thinking of you over the week and am so anxious to see you on Monday.

We have all been affected in some way or another by this horrible flood. At my house, Mr. Tim and I lost power and water for a couple of days. Also, the road we live on was destroyed and needs to be rebuilt. Several of our relatives live in Douglasville and now have water standing in their floors! I am blessed beyond measure because I did not lose any loved ones. I'm sure all of you have your own stories of the flood and I would love to hear them.

As you know, we have been discussing homelessness in our class since school began. I think now, more than ever, you can see how homelessness can result from things out of our control. So what are we going to do about it? We have tossed around ideas about service projects for the last several weeks. Now is our time to decide. What will we do to help Douglasville, our local community, as we recover from the effects of the flood?

In response to this post, I would like to hear about how you and your family were affected by the tremendous amount of rain, and how you would like to help rebuild Douglasville, particularly focusing on those who lost their homes.

Wishing you all well!
Mrs. Jackson

Welcome!

Hello all my wonderful 4th grade students! I am so excited to start this new year with you and know it will be an adventure for ALL of us!

Because you are all digital natives, I want to use technology in our class as much as possible! This blog spot is meant to be used as a new way for all of us to express our thoughts and ideas through writing.

Every Sunday I will post a new blog with a few questions for you to answer, and you will have one whole week to post your comments with answers. Sometimes the questions will be for review of material we have covered in class. Other times they will be self-assessment questions, or questions about how well YOU think you are doing during the week. Your answers will help me decide the best ways to help you succeed in this class!

I look forward to reading your blog posts and hope you will enjoy using this new form of technology in our room! Blog away! : )
